Types of Scholarships Offered By Washington University in St. Louis

Many WASHU Scholarships cover full tuition for four years, but please remember, funding is limited for every university. Since there is a limited number of full-ride scholarships, please apply as soon as possible, and don’t procrastinate till the last minute!!


1. First-Year Academic Scholarships

If you have already applied for WASHU Undergraduate Admissions, you are automatically considered for First-Year Academic Scholarships. No separate application is required, and the scholarships are separated into four academic divisions: College of Arts & Sciences (1), Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts (2), Olin Business School (3), McKelvey School of Engineering (4).

As you have noticed from the above paragraph, the academic divisions are numbered, and the scholarships are separately divided according to the academic divisions. Please know which academic division that you are applying for, and then, look at the scholarship that pertains to you!

Arthur Holly Compton Fellowship Program (1)

George E. Mylonas Scholarship Program (1)

2. Signature Scholar Programs

The Signature Scholar Programs are very similar to the First-Year Academic Scholarships; however, instead of being automatically considered, you need to apply separately for each scholarship if you want to be considered for these scholarship programs.

3. Transfer Scholarship

This category of scholarship is self-explanatory. If you are transferring to Washington University in St. Louis, you are eligible to apply for this scholarship, and there is only one transfer scholarship available, so be sure to apply early!
