Instead of listing specific academic requirements such as test scores or required GPA, University of Pittsburgh only has the academic achievements of previous Diversity Scholars.

For the general diversity scholarship, I will list only the highest academic achievements of the Diversity Scholar, and, in this way, you can set your standard at the highest bar and not at the lowest.

Highest Academic Achievements:

  • Scored at least 1340 on SAT OR 28 on ACT
  • Maintained a Cumulative High School GPA of 4.0

Highest General Diversity Award: Full Tuition for Four Years

The specific diversity scholarships are offered by different departments, and only students applying for that department will be considered for these full-ride scholarships.

Conclusion: College Expenses?

The number values on the scholarships don’t mean a thing if you do not know the real cost of attending college. In order to provide helpful information to incoming students, University of Pittsburgh has provided a detailed list of tuition and fees.

Also, there are varying amounts attached to a different department, so pay careful attention to your interested major. If you are undecided, you probably can switch to another department during your undergraduate career. Since it doesn’t show an overall fee but a tuition fee for individual departments, I’m guessing you have to choose a department when you apply for your undergraduate year.

This is a surprise to me since most universities that I have encountered with was a liberal arts college, which means you do not have to declare your major when you come into college.

Due to the full-ride scholarships, students applying to the University of Pittsburgh have a chance to get rid of their financial burdens once and for all by applying to these competitive scholarships.
