Washington and Lee University Scholarships and Need-Based Aid

Virginia Scholarships

Founded by George Washington and Robert E. Lee, the Washington and Lee University boasts of its rich historical background of their founders. When the university was going through a hard time due to financial difficulties, George Washington saved Washington and Lee University by giving a generous donation.

To express their thanks, the head directors of the college changed the name of the university to Washington College. After this change and the Civil War, General Robert E. Lee stepped in as the president of this college to restore peace and harmony to the state of Virginia.
