Liberty University Scholarships

Liberty University Scholarships

Virginia Scholarships

Established in a Christian foundation, Liberty University offers quality education that is different from the curriculum taught by top-tier universities. Instead of teaching it from a secular perspective, education at Liberty University is taught from a Christian world view.

Even though the perspective might be different, Liberty University still offers great academic programs for associate, bachelor’s, master’s, specialist, and even doctoral degrees. Founded in 1971, Liberty University continues to spread Christian education to its incoming students.

In addition to quality education, Liberty University is known for its sports teams. Even though it might be a Christian university, the Liberty Champions are known for their swiftness and their strength in the sports arena.

Although you might not be interested in sports, there is a common ground for any incoming student since Liberty University offers high-value scholarships to its incoming students. Be sure to check the scholarships offered by Liberty University in the list down below!

Types of Scholarships Offered at Liberty University

Liberty University offers five types of scholarships to incoming students, and they are Resident Undergraduate Scholarships, Resident Graduate Scholarships, Liberty University Online Scholarships, Resident Transfer Scholarships, and Missions Programs & Scholarships.

Since Liberty University is located in the state of Virginia, the resident scholarships are only available to Virginia Residents, and the online scholarship and the scholarship programs are the only available options for out-of-state applicants.

1. Scholarships for In-State Residents

As I have said before, this section is only for Virginia Residents, so, if you are not, please skip to the section called Scholarships for All Residents.

A. Liberty University Academic Scholarship

Since this is a merit-based scholarship, I am assuming that the only requirement is to fill out the admissions application to Liberty University. The academic expectations are really high for full tuition, and the scholarship amount starts to fall from there.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Maintained at least 3.0 on the Cumulative High School GPA
  • Scored at least 20 on the ACT OR 1020 on the SAT*

*Remember, these academic scores are the minimum requirement which is for the lowest scholarship value. For high-achieving students, the academic requirements for full tuition are to score 35 ~ 36 on the ACT (1560 ~ 1600 on the SAT) AND maintain a cumulative high school GPA between 3.8 ~ 4.0.

Also, superscore can be used for the SAT and ACT to improve your chance of having a higher score, and transfer students can be eligible for this scholarship.

Scholarship Value: $1,500 ~ Full Tuition

***Submitting the confirmation letter is important, but the organization in which your parents (missionaries) are connected with is an important factor as well. 2. Scholarships for All Residents

If you have looked above, the Liberty University Missionary Scholarships are one of the scholarship programs that are also for out-of-state residents and international students; however, for students who are not children of missionaries, you can apply for other forms of need-based aid by visiting the link down below!

Conclusion: Need More?

The Liberty University offers additional options of financial aid to students who demonstrated financial need even though they are eligible for these scholarships. Offering grants, loans, and other types of need-based aids, Liberty University continues to lessen the financial burden by providing these types of financial aid.

Most need-based aids offered by the federal government are only available to US Citizens or Permanent Residents, so if you are either US Citizen or a Permanent Resident, you can file for FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to be eligible for need-based aid.

FAFSA is a financial aid form that is used to determine the demonstrated financial need of an individual student; however, you need to know that some people use FAFSA as a tool for a scholarship scam. Normally, there is no application fee that is needed for FAFSA since the first word of FAFSA is free.

However, on scam websites, it requires the applicant to pay an application fee to file the FAFSA, so be careful to avoid sites that require an application fee since it is most likely a scam.
