Established in 1868, the Minnesota State University Mankato is a public university that is located near the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. 1. MSU Scholarships
Offered by the Minnesota State University, these scholarships are funded by donors, alumni, and even private organizations that care for the students of Minnesota State.
A. Charles & Ellora Alliss Scholarship
Awarded only to Minnesota residents, the Charles & Ellora Allliss Scholarship is given to students who are starting on their first bachelor’s degree and based on their EFC (Expected Family Contribution). EFC is included in the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), so, if you have already filled out the FAFSA, then you do not need to worry about EFC.

B. Minnesota Indian Scholarship Program
This scholarship awards up to $4,000 per year for undergraduate students and awards up to $6,000 per year for graduate students. The requirement for this scholarship is that you need to be a Minnesota resident who has one-fourth or more Indian ancestry.

2. Scholarships for First-Year Students

A. Maverick Scholarships

C. Meredith Scholar Award

Students whose majors is one of the following (mathematics, mathematics education, biological sciences, life science, physics, chemistry, astronomy or physical science) is eligible for this scholarship. The academic requirements for this scholarship are to rank in the top 10 percent of their high school class and have an ACT composite score of 27 or higher.
D. Graham Chemistry Scholarship
This scholarship awards $2,500 for only one year, and only students who are interested in majoring in chemistry are eligible. To be considered, students must have a minimum GPA of 3.5.

3. Scholarships for Transfer Students
These scholarships are only awarded to transfer students who fulfill all of the eligibility requirements.
- Must be attending a two-year community college
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Complete an associate’s degree OR Minnesota Transfer Curriculum
- Be a U.S. citizen OR U.S. permanent resident.
After fulfilling these requirements, you can now be considered for these upcoming scholarships.
A. Transfer Student Maverick Scholarship Awards
The scholarship is given to transfer students, and it only last for one year.
B. Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
This scholarship awards $500 for one year, and applicants must be a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at a two-year college.

4. Private Scholarships

E. In-State Tuition
There is a difference in tuition prices whether you are from in-state or from out-of state. To encourage students to go to universities of their residing state, in-state tuition are considerably lower in price than out-of-state tuition.
For first-year students, high school graduates (even though they are from out-of-state) will automatically receive an in-state tuition scholarship if they meet the following requirements: rank in the top 15 percent of their high school class, have a high school cumulative GPA of 3.8, have an ACT composite score of 25, OR have a minimum SAT score of 1220.
For transfer students, students must be transferring to Minnesota State (with at least 24 or more college-level, transferable credits, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5), and they will be automatically considered for this scholarship.
For students whose parent graduated from Minnesota State Mankato, they automatically qualify for in-state tuition scholarship.
How to Apply for MSU Scholarships
Similar to many universities, there are two ways to apply for scholarships offered by Minnesota State University Mankato. The first way is to apply for admissions to Minnesota State, and, based on your student information, you will be automatically considered for scholarships.
On the other hand, some scholarships require a separate application in addition to admissions application. In that case, you apply for admissions, and then separately apply for your scholarship.
