Oasis Scholarship

Oasis Scholarship (2021)

External Scholarships Scholarships by Country Scholarships in India

This scholarship is not awarded to give out free water to scholarship recipients, but rather an opportunity to continue your journey to receive your college education. Oasis stands for Online Application for Scholarship in Studies, and these scholarships are awarded by the Government of West Bengal to help the students of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Class (OBC). To increase the chances of getting this scholarship, the total income limit of your parents/guardian was increased, and the scholarship awards also increased in number. Currently, there are four types of Oasis Scholarships, so I’ll start with the title of each category and finish with a table that contains the eligibility requirements with each respective scholarship values.

1. Post-Matric Scholarships for SC/ST Applicants

This scholarship scheme is funded entirely by the Government of India, and it is given to students who are studying at a post-secondary course at recognized institutions (college/university/ graduate school). Before getting to our table of scholarship values with the corresponding levels of education, I will be covering a few eligibility requirements that are needed in order to qualify for this scholarship. Even though they might be implied from this scholarship guideline, I think it is necessary to take a quick look at each requirement to see if you really qualify or not.

  • Be an SC / ST Student (Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes)
  • Be Studying in Recognized Post Secondary Courses (Listed in Table Down Below)
  • Total Income of Parents / Guardian Should Be Less Than Rs. 2,50,000 per Year
Group Courses of StudyMonthly Stipend for HostellersMonthly Stipend for Day Scholars
IMedical / Engineering / B.Sc (Agriculture) / M. Philosophy / Ph. D / LL. M.Rs. 1200Rs. 550
IIB. Pharmacy / B. Nursing / LL.B / Hotel Management / Post Graduate Courses etc. Rs. 820Rs. 530
IIIGeneral Courses Up to Graduate LevelRs. 750Rs. 300
IVClasses XI and XII in 10+2 System Intermediate Courses / ITI / Polytechnic Courses Rs. 750Rs. 230

By looking at the courses of study, you might have some questions regarding the terms in the courses of study and also the difference between hostellers and day scholars. To begin, all the courses of study in group one are pretty straightforward except for LL.M, which stands for Master of Law. In the next group, LL.B stands for Bachelor of Law, and the third group is pretty straightforward as well. Last but not least, the 10 + 2 system is basically 11th grade and 12 grade and ITI stands for Industrial Training Institutes and Industrial Training Centers. The difference between hostellers and day scholars is that hostellers are boarders while day scholars are commuting students who go back and forth from their home while receiving their college education.

2. Post-Matric Scholarships for OBS Students

This scholarship scheme is really similar to the one that we have previously covered for SC / ST Students. Things that changed are the eligible applicants and the scholarship values for hostellers and day scholars. In addition, the financial requirement for this scholarship is lower than the previous one, so be sure to pay attention to small details while looking at the eligibility requirements for this scholarship. Similar to the format that I have used in the first Oasis Scholarship, I will list the eligibility requirements, then the table with all those scholarship values, and finish with the link leading to the official source.

  • Be an OBS Student (Other Backward Class)
  • Be Studying in Recognized Post Secondary Courses (Listed in Table Down Below)
  • Total Income of Parents / Guardian Should Be Less Than Rs. 1,00,000 per Year

3. Pre-Matric Scholarship to SC / ST Students

Unlike the previous two scholarship schemes, only parents can apply for this third and fourth Oasis Scholarships since your child is not old enough to make this decision for himself. As usual, your children should meet the academic requirements, and you should meet the financial guidelines required by this scholarship. The table for this scholarship scheme is short and simple since it will only list the scholarship values for hostellers and day scholars. Same as before, I will start off with the eligibility requirements, then the scholarship table, and end with the official link.
