Standing for National Commercial Bank, the NCB is the largest financial organization in the country of Jamaica. NCB has decided to dedicate a portion of its profits to establish an undergraduate scholarship. The NCB Scholarship is for any Jamaican who is trying to get an education. Don’t leave until you have finished reading the eligibility requirements for NCB Scholarships!


Benefits of NCB Scholarships

Before we go into the eligibility requirements of NCB Scholarships, I thought that showing the benefits of NCB Scholarships will encourage you to apply.

Scholarship Value: $600,000 ~ $250,000

Grant Value: $150,000 ~ $15,000

The scholarship and grant values vary depending on your level of education and whether you take a traditional program or a non-traditional program. Eligibility Requirements for NCB Scholarships

If you have read the introduction very carefully, you would have gotten the first eligibility requirement, which is a requirement concerning nationality. Also, this scholarship is not restricted to college-level education, but it is available to students at primary and secondary levels as well. You need to meet all eligibility requirements to be considered for NCB Scholarships.

  • Be a Jamaican Citizen
  • Be One of the Following:
    • Be a Registered Student in a Local Institution at a Primary or Secondary Level
    • Be an Accepted Student to an Accredited Undergraduate Program in Jamaica or a Regional Campus in the University of the West Indies
  • Be Enrolled Full-Time*
  • Must Show Demonstrated Financial Need
  • Show All of the Following:
    • Outstanding Academic Achievements in CGPA, CXC, CAPE**
    • Demonstrate Community Spirit***
      • Be Involved in a Youth Club
      • Be Involved in a Service Club
      • Be Involved in Voluntary Community Service or School

*Being enrolled full-time applies only to students who are in college-level education or above. For students who are in primary or secondary school, this requirement does not apply to you.

**Also, academic achievements also vary from student to student. If you are applying for a college-level scholarship, you need to show great GPA scores on top of your exam scores. For students who are in primary or secondary school, you need to take the exam that is applicable to your level!

***Last but not least, the examples of community spirit are not limited to those three only. You can show the community spirit in many other ways, but be sure to include your unique involvement that demonstrated community spirit.
