Known as the Ministry of Minority Affairs, MOMA Scholarships were established to increase the literacy rates in minorities and also provide further educational assistance to students in India. Currently, MOMA Scholarships are separated into three different scholarship schemes, which I have covered in the sections down below. For each section, I have also included a table that contains the vital information for each scholarship scheme so be sure to take advantage of this information by checking the eligibility requirements and then applying for your qualified scholarship.
1. Pre-Matric Scholarship for Minorities
To encourage parents to send their children to school and also to lighten the financial load for each family, the Ministry of Minority Affairs has established this scholarship based on the academic achievements of the child and also on the financial need of your entire family. In addition, there is a background requirement for this award since MOMA Scholarships were established to help minority groups in India. To be eligible for this scholarship, you have to meet all the requirements listed down below.
- Be Studying in India at Government or Private School From Class I to Class X
- Be From a One of the Following Minority Community*
- Have Secured Higher Than 50% Marks in the Previous Final Exam
- Total Annual Income of Parents / Guardian Should Be Less Than Rs. 1.00 Lakh
*Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jain, and Zoroastrians (Parsis)
Class Groups | Admissions Scholarship | Tuition Coverage | Monthly Stipend for Hosteller | Monthly Stipend for Day Scholar |
Class I to V | N/A | N/A | N/A | Rs. 100 |
Class VI to X | Rs. 500 Per Year | Rs. 350 Per Month | Rs. 600 | Rs. 100 |
The monthly stipend for each group lasts for ten months, and you are probably wondering about the award difference between those two groups. From Class I to V, you probably don’t need to pay for admission or tuition, and you can really send your child to a boarding school as a hosteller during that young age, so the only scholarship amount that your child can receive is the monthly stipend for a day scholar. From Class VI to X, you are probably required to pay the admission fees and the tuition fees, and you can probably send off your child to a boarding school during that age. However, you may not choose to send off your child so you have both options as a hosteller and as a day scholar.

Similar to our previous scholarship, the scholarship duration for each year is ten months, and the undergraduate & postgraduate without the asterisk mark means UG & PG level courses that are not technical & professional courses. It kinda makes sense that you are increasing the amount of scholarship since this award is for higher levels of education, which requires an increased amount of tuition/admissions fees.
