Illinois Scholarships

The Illinois Institute of Technology is a private university that is located in Chicago, Illinois. Known as a famous research university, Illinois Tech offers top-notch programs in engineering, science, architecture, business, design, human sciences, applied technology, and law.

In addition to quality education, the Illinois Institute of Technology offers long-term scholarships to their incoming prospective students.

Types of Scholarships Offered at Illinois Institute of Technology

To help students with their finances, the Illinois Institute of Technology offers nearly 100% of their students with some sort of financial aid. One of the most popular options is scholarships, and you don’t need to pay any of the scholarship money back after you have received it.

1. Scholarships for Incoming Freshmen

Even though an applicant may be eligible for multiple scholarships, the Illinois Institute of Technology will award the highest merit award among the eligible scholarships, and the awards will not be combined (stacked on top of one another).

A. Illinois Tech Camras Scholars Program

Awarded to students who show innovative skills, high academic achievements, and outstanding leadership skills, the Camras Scholars Programs have the following eligibility requirements:

  • Be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Fulfill High Selective Standards*
  • Achieve Outstanding Academics
  • Demonstrate Leadership
  • Involvement in School and Extracurricular Activities

*Standards are not listed, but it probably will be high GPA and pretty decent standardized test scores

Scholarship Value: Full Tuition

Due to inflation, the Illinois Institute of Technology increases its tuition fees year by year, and the Camras Scholarship will be covering the same amount of tuition for four years.

For example, let’s say that you received this scholarship this year, and this year’s tuition is (hypothetically) $40,000 per year. The scholarship covers the full tuition for this year, but the Illinois Tech raises the tuition to $40,100 for the next year. Then you have to pay the $100, and the university will cover the same amount of tuition as the first scholarship year.

For further information, visit Illinois Tech Camras Scholars Program.

B. Illinois Tech Collen Scholars Program

Since it covers full tuition and more, the Collen Scholars have more eligibility requirements than ever before! In order to be considered for this need-based scholarship, make sure to meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Be a Graduate from a Chicago Public / Charter High School
  • Be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident

*Illinois Tech wants applicants to apply through Common Application, so make sure to sign in to the Common App Portal to apply

Scholarship Value: Full Tuition + Mandatory Fees

Just because you fit the eligibility requirements, do not assume that this scholarship is guaranteed. If the competition gets fierce (which normally does), the Collen Scholarship Committee will also consider academic achievements on top of financial need.

For more information, view Illinois Tech Collen Scholars Program.

C. Illinois Tech Crown Scholars

Awarded by the College of Architecture, the Crown Scholarship is one of the most prestigious and selective scholarships offered by Illinois Institute of Technology. To be considered, the applicant must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Show Outstanding Academic Achievements*
  • Excellent Artistic Skills in Freehand Drawing
  • Be Involved in Extracurricular Activities
  • Demonstrate Leadership and Show Independence**
  • Submit Admissions Application and Scholarship Application

*Unfortunately, the Illinois Tech does not list specifics on academic achievements, but make sure you do your best in school and also in standardized testing.

**Being independent does not mean to be rebellious to parents, but I think it leans more to the definition of being able to act on one’s own and does not rely on other’s help to achieve something.
