In order to help students with their college expenses, the Burger King McLamore Foundation awards a variety of scholarships to prospective students. Regardless of nationality, these scholarships are awarded to both US Citizens and international students.

There may be prospective students who are eligible for multiple scholarship awards, but if awarded, they will be awarded only one award. For example, an applicant might be eligible for $5,000 and $50,000 awards; so, if they are awarded $50,000 award, they cannot receive a $5,000 award also.
1. Burger King General Track Awards
These awards are for graduating high school seniors, and this scholarship is a one-time award. After receiving this scholarship for one year, the scholarship recipient may not reapply for the Burger King General Track Scholarship.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be a Graduating High School Senior
- Be Living in the United States, Canada, or Puerto Rico
- Be Graduating at High School (Homeschool Education) in the United States, Puerto Rico, or Canada
- Maintained a Cumulative High School GPA of at least 2.5
- Plan to Enroll Full-Time in an Accredited Institution in the United States, Puerto Rico, or Canada
Scholarship Benefit: $1,000 Award
As you can see, there is no required citizenship for this scholarship, but for $50,000 scholarships, US citizenship or Canadian citizenship is required. For high school seniors who want a stipend for personal expenses, applying for this scholarship is a great idea!

2. Burger King Employee-Based Track Award
As its name states, this scholarship is for Burger King employees, and this category contains medium-value scholarships for prospective applicants. This award separates into two sections, so if you meet the eligibility requirements of one of the two sections, then you can apply for that particular award.
Eligibility Requirements for First E-B Track Award:
- Be One of the Following:
- Burger King’s* Employee
- Spouses / Domestic Partners of BK Employees
- Dependent Children of BK Employees
- Be Living in the United States, Canada, or Puerto Rico
- Be Graduating at High School /Homeschool Education in the United States, Puerto Rico, or Canada (Current Undergraduate and Graduate Students Can Apply as Well)
- Maintained a Minimum Cumulative GPA of at least 2.5
- Plan to Enroll Full-Time in an Accredited Institution in the United States, Puerto Rico, or Canada
*Employees of Burger King Corporation and Employees of a Participating Burger King Franchisee can apply for these scholarships.
Eligibility Requirements for Second E-B Track Award:
- Be One of the Following:
- Burger King’s Employee
- Spouses / Domestic Partners of BK Employees
- Be Pursuing an Enrichment Program*
- Be Taking the Program at an Accredited Institution in the United States, Puerto Rico, or Canada
*Enrichment Programs include language, computer, and accounting, but it is not limited to these three since you can have Enrichment Programs in other areas as well.
Scholarship Benefits: $1,000 or $5,000 Awards
Like BK General Track Awards, the $5,000 award is one time, so the scholarship recipient cannot reapply after receiving $5,000 scholarship. However, the scholarship recipients of $1,000 E-B Track Awards can reapply even after receiving their scholarship.

In addition, the application deadline is a crucial factor since the Burger King Foundation awards first-come, first-serve. Be sure to apply as early as you can, and please mark the deadline if you have missed it.
3. Burger King James W. McLamore WHOPPER Scholarship
This is the most prestigious scholarship offered by Burger King Foundation, and the WHOPPER Scholars will be chosen from the BK General Track applicants and BK Employee-Based Track applicants.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be a Citizen of the United States or Canada
- Be a High School / Homeschool Senior in the United States, Puerto Rico, or Canada
- Applying as an Incoming Freshmen*
- Maintained a Cumulative High School GPA of at least 3.3
- Scored at least 25 on the ACT OR 1220 on the SAT
- Participated in Curricular and Extracurricular Activities
- Have Work Experience and Demonstrate Financial Need
*Be applying for undergraduate education at a four-year accredited institution that is located in the United States or in Canada. Also, that institution must be exempt from taxation using the Internal Revenue Code.
Scholarship Benefit: $50,000 Award

Conclusion: Application Deadline?
Since this is a very popular external scholarship, there are a lot of students who apply for this Burger King Scholarship. In order to prevent an overflow of applications, the BK Foundation only receives a certain amount of application per year.
Also, since there is limited funding to BK Scholarship Application, the application deadline is a very important factor to this scholarship. Since this scholarship is for high school seniors, the application usually opens in the beginning fall semester of senior year and closes at the near the end of the fall semester.
